PediCAP Kick-off Meeting in Johannesburg

June 27, 2019news

The start of the PediCAP Project was officially launched with the kick-off meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa on 29-30 April 2019.

All of the 13 European and African institutions and hospitals comprising the PediCAP Consortium, including the 5 recruiting sites, were represented as well as EDCTP. About 40 participants gathered at Glenburn Lodge and dedicated two full days to lay the groundwork for the implementation of this 5-year project, coordinated by Penta and funded under the EDCTP2 programme.

The main focus of the meeting was a thorough discussion of the PediCAP trial protocol: this great opportunity to involve representatives from all study teams in a face to face debate was extremely effective in producing a consolidated version of the protocol, with the aim of refining and finalizing it by summer 2019.

The layout of substudies were also discussed, as well as the strategies and tools for involving key stakeholders and for building research capacity locally.

Thank you to all participants for an engaging two days together and see you in Zimbabwe for the Consortium Meeting 2020!
